How To Decorate Your Wedding Aisle

Decorating the aisle of your wedding ceremony is an exciting thought. This will be the path that leads you to your happily ever after, and it should be utterly beautiful. It should also reflect your unique personality and style, so the wedding professionals at Marco Island Weddings have comprised a list of various ways you can do just that. Whether you’re planning a beach wedding, something rustic or bohemian, or the most formal and traditional of weddings, we have a few suggestions we know you’ll love. You may even try combining a few to make the look your own!

Wedding Aisle Flowers

Traditional Bouquets

For the traditionalists, floral bouquets lining the center aisle are a must. How you achieve this look is completely up to you, however. Some brides choose to hang a bouquet ball on the ends of the pew or rows of chairs, while others tie a lovely sprig of blooms that resembles the bride’s bouquet to the ends of the rows. You could even choose a hanging installation of bouquets that drop from the ceiling along the aisle. Usually these traditional bouquets are similar in style, color and variety to the bride’s bouquet and those of the bridal party.

Scattered Flower Petals on Grass Aisle

Scattered Petals or Leaves

If your wedding won’t include a flower girl, you can still walk down the aisle atop a plethora of rose petals. Scatter them beforehand, either on the aisle itself or line each side of it with petals in your wedding colors. Bonus points for creating swirls or other amazing designs with the petals and multiple colors for guests to enjoy before your grand entrance. Likewise, if fresh leaves, palm fronds or garland would suit your wedding’s style and season better, these can also be used loosely to define your wedding aisle. Be sure your choice truly reflects your wedding vibe!

Plants on Aisle Chairs

Potted Plants and Flowers

A twist on traditional flowers tied to the ends of seating is to place potted plants or flowers along the aisle at the end of each row. The containers you choose will have as much impact on defining your wedding’s vibe as the contents. For example, wooden crates or metallic lanterns can add to a rustic vibe, while stately ceramic or silver urns create a more formal presentation.  Plus, each container of blooms or foliage can be transferred to the reception area and repurposed as centerpieces or other decor. Think about which baskets, boxes, vases or other containers will suit your wedding decor best.

Succulents and Cacti

These unassuming little plants are making a big splash these days. Succulents are wildly popular at the moment and can create a laid-back but modern look. Group in asymmetric clusters of varying heights along the aisle for a bohemian vibe, or arrange neatly in geometric patterns for a chic, modern twist. Choose to decorate with lots of small succulents then give them to guests as favors at the end of your big event!

Flowers Hanging from Pews

Candles, Rugs, and other Items

If you’d like to include non-floral items in your decor, think about lining your aisle with candles, candelabras or other decorative pieces. Placing colorful Persian-style rugs along the aisle will give your wedding a comfortable, homey vibe that will make guests feel right at home. Add textiles, as well as hardware and flowers, can be a great way to combine visual elements and create rich texture throughout your wedding ceremony.

There are so many ways to make your wedding your own, and decorating your wedding aisle in your unique taste is just one of them.
